About Key West

Key West is 160 miles from Miami but feels like a different country. The drive down the Overseas Highway — hopping from key to key across 42 bridges — is one of America's great road trips. The island itself runs on its own clock. Duval Street has the bars (Sloppy Joe's, the Green Parrot), the Mallory Square sunset celebration draws crowds every evening, and Hemingway's six-toed cats still roam his old house. The snorkeling and diving at the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is outstanding — the third-largest barrier reef in the world. Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas, accessible by ferry or seaplane, is a bucket-list day trip.
