About Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is one of those places that manages to be both completely over-the-top and genuinely beautiful at the same time. Surfers Paradise lives up to its name with consistent breaks rolling in from the Coral Sea, while the high-rises stacked behind the beach give the whole scene a Miami-meets-Australia energy. Head south to Burleigh Heads for better waves and less chaos, or duck into the hinterland for rainforest walks through Springbrook and Lamington National Parks. The food scene has quietly leveled up in recent years, with James Street in Burleigh turning out some of the best poke bowls, Japanese, and brunch spots on the east coast. Budget-wise, you can find hostels from $25 AUD a night and eat well for under $20 if you know where to look.
