About Tulum

Tulum has become the poster child for the boho-chic beach vacation, and beneath the Instagram aesthetic there's genuine substance. The Tulum ruins — a walled Mayan city perched on cliffs above a perfect Caribbean beach — are the only major archaeological site in Mexico directly on the coast. The cenotes (freshwater sinkholes) in the surrounding jungle are otherworldly: swim in crystal-clear water inside limestone caves with shafts of sunlight cutting through. The beach road is lined with design-forward hotels, mezcal bars, and restaurants serving elevated Mexican cuisine. Gran Cenote, Cenote Dos Ojos, and Casa Cenote are all within a short drive.
