About Krabi
Krabi is the Thailand that Instagram was made for — limestone karsts shooting straight out of emerald water, longtail boats with colorful ribbons, and beaches framed by jungle-covered cliffs. Railay Beach, technically on the mainland but only accessible by boat, is the crown jewel: a peninsula of white sand hemmed in by vertical limestone walls that double as world-class rock climbing routes. Ao Nang is the main tourist base, a bit more built up but convenient for island-hopping tours to the four islands (Poda, Chicken Island, Tup Island, and Phra Nang Cave Beach). For something quieter, Koh Lanta is a 90-minute drive south — a long, laid-back island with a dozen beaches and none of the chaos. The Emerald Pool and Hot Springs in the Krabi interior make for a great jungle day trip. A beachside pad thai or green curry runs 80-120 baht (about 2-3 USD), and a longtail boat to Railay costs 100 baht each way.
