About Cook Islands

The Cook Islands are what the South Pacific looked like before everyone found out about it. Rarotonga, the main island, is ringed by a reef that creates a lagoon you can snorkel right from shore. Aitutaki — the second island most visitors see — has a lagoon so beautiful it makes travel writers run out of adjectives. The population of the entire country is about 17,000, so 'crowded' doesn't exist here. The culture is genuinely Polynesian — Sunday church services with stunning harmonized singing, traditional dance performances, and an island market that's the social event of the week. It's the laid-back Pacific island experience that Fiji and Bora Bora used to be.
